What Causes the Failure of Belt Conveyor Components and the Solution

Basically, we cannot avoid the failing in work of belt conveyor. The following several points are common phenomenon of belt conveyor components failure analyzed by PK Machinery. We hope to bring you some assistance.
  1. The belt fails in rotating;
The drive pulley belt slips and turns without moving forward after the starting of the belt conveyor motor. The belt failing in rotating is due to the insufficient belt tension, overlong of the belt, inappropriate adjustment of the tension equipment, too frequent start-up and the coal piled up at the end of the belt conveyor.
  1. Belt is easy to break ;
This problem is mainly caused by the large belt joint, poor belt buckle quality, long time use of the belt and the unprofessional belt maintenance. In this case, we should tighten the tension equipment, change high quality belt in time and improve the maintenance level.
  1. Abnormal sound from the reducer
One possible reason is that the abrasive wear of the bearing and gear causes a large gap between them. Or it is because the screw is too loose. In this case, we should replace the bearing, mend the gap and maintain or replace the reducer.
  1. Temperature of the reducer rises too fast
It is due to the over mount of lubricant, poor heat dispersion, speed reducer burying in coal. The lubricant oil amount should be reduced and the coal should be removed to solve this problem.
  1. Lubricant leakage of the reducer
The main reason includes the sealing ring is damaged, the reducer surface is not flat and the bolt is too loose. In this condition, we should change the sealing ring, tighten the connecting surface and the bearing cap bolts.

  1. The roller failed in rotating
If the coal powder falls into the roller sealing ring, it will block the conveyor roller and cause strong stress, then the roller would not rotate and even bend. And thus bring damage to the roller bearing. If this happened, we should replace the roller, lower the height of discharging point and the landing point, or use impact roller at the landing point.

Key Factors to Avoid Belt Skid of Movable Belt Conveyor

Movable belt conveyor is a portable continuous conveying equipment, which has the advantage of convenient movement, high efficiency and easy operating. It can convey bulk material, and bagged material is also in its working range.The lift angle and height is allowed to adjust.   1. Adjust the belt tightness of the conveyor.
The tightness is a key factor to impact the operation of portable belt conveyor. You can tighten the belt through screw tensioning or hydraulic tensioning to solve the belt skid problem. It probably causes permanent deformation to the belt if the tension range is not enough, in this case, we need to cut a piece of belt off and then vulcanize the belt.
  1. If large range of tightness is required while using nylon or EP belt, we can also vulcanize the belt to solve belt skip problem and thus reduce damage to the conveying belt.

Guide Rail Makes Tripper or Bucket Elevator Perform Better

Guide rail is made of metal or other material to become groove or ridge which is a device that can withstand, fix and guide mobile device or reduce their friction. Longitudinal groove or ridge on the surface of guide rail is used for guiding or fixing machine parts. Moreover, it is also known as sliding rail or linear guides, used in the occasion of linear reciprocating motion. It has a higher rated load and can assume certain torque. Ways to Maximize the Performance of Belt Conveyor

During application of belt conveyor, it is beneficial to reduce operating resistance by using high precision conveyor rollers and high performance belt. Revolving resistance of rollers and forward resistance of belt conveyor account for 50% main resistance in belt conveyor. If the belt conveyor length is more than 80m, main resistance will be influenced by device condition, friction coefficient related to real working condition, conveyor length, rotating quality in unit length of roller, belt quality, material property, etc.
Apart from above mentioned influential factor, we can refer to the following ways to maximize the performance of belt conveyor:
1.Reduce or adjust belt deviation;
2.Add lubricating oil to components of belt conveyor;
3.Clean up the sundries produced in transportation promptly;
4.Tension force of belt conveyor should be adjusted the best status;
5.Please add oil to conveyor pulley at fixed period to ensure smooth rotation;
6.It’s better to adopt vulcanized joint, though it costs too much money, it can keep a longer service life(especially suitable for fix belt conveyor).

Application of Sidewall Belt Conveyor in Thermal Power Plant

1.Requirements
Sidewall belt conveyor is the major equipment to convey coal and lime-ash in thermal power plant. Therefore it has high requirements for the security of equipment. Generally speaking, the whole transit line is equipped with twin channel sidewall belt conveyor, one is put into use, another is as standby application device. Thus, this coal handling system must be equipped with sidewall belt conveyor with 2500m-3000m length. Applying sidewall belt conveyor to thermal powder plant, it can not only simplify procedure, but also save cost.
2.Features
Due to power plant has high requirements for the security of equipment, technical requirements of sidewall belt conveyor are as follows:
1) It has different requirements for belt conveyor when it used to receive, convey or discharge materials. For instance, if the belt conveyor is used to receive materials, the belt speed of it shouldn’t be too high. If it is used to convey materials, it requires that trough angle of idler decrease properly. If plow discharger is put into use, the cover rubber of belt surface should be thicken properly. 
2)The belt speed should be low. Belt conveyor is mostly arranged in workshop, so it has high requirements for coal dust control. According to domestic and foreign practical experience, it’s better to adopt lower speed.
3)After installation of this machine, it seldom changes its layout.
4)Different coal type has different requirements for belt conveyor. For example, large coal particle size needs impact idler with high quality. Coal with less water and more dust needs guide chute with good sealing.
